Assistant Superintendent, WaterThe City of Alexandria, LA is seeking individuals with progressively responsible supervisory experience in water utility operations that are interested in working for an employer that provides outstanding benefits, such as high employer retirement contribution; sick and vacation leave; health, dental, vision, and supplemental insurances.Kind of WorkThe purpose of this classification is to perform technical tasks at the managerial level to assist in overseeing construction projects, maintenance activities and general operations of the Water Department, production and distribution, of the City of Alexandria. This position is subject to 24-hour call. Salary Range: $45,198.40 - $54,246.40 Minimum Applicant Qualifications: DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelorand#39;s Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or related field; supplemented by three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in water utility operations, water system design and construction or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid State of Louisiana Class IV certification in Water Production, Treatment, and Distribution certifications. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSCandidates with Class III certifications may be considered depending upon their previous work history and needs of the department. Such candidate(s) selected for hire must enter into a written transition plan to achieve certification as a Class IV Water Production and Treatment Operator.Will be required to obtain and maintain additional certifications and/or training as deemed necessary. Must possess a valid driverand#39;s license.Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driverand#39;s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification. Work Schedule:M - F, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, 24 hr. callKind of Examination This examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants.
